Version 1.39.0 Preview 18 October 15, 2026 (Preview)

Release Date: October 15, 2026

This preview includes everything in Preview 14, plus the changes from Previews 15 to 18. The Setup Wizard no longer resets settings it doesn’t show, and Microsoft Teams notifications, which stopped arriving in version 1.33.0, are delivered again. Making an app visible keeps the deployment group App Store creates for it, and a newly published app appears in App Management right away. Catalog apps install with their installer’s own silent switches. Group Automation sends the notifications you turn on, and pages show times in your own time zone. The preview also updates two .NET libraries to address high-severity security advisories.

  • Published apps appear in App Management right away. An app you publish from App Catalog or App Upload is listed in App Management, hidden from the store, as soon as the publish completes, instead of after the next sync with Intune. This includes a publish that resumes after a restart.
  • Group Automation notifications reach your administrators. Each option under Group Automation Notifications on Communications now emails the App Store administrators and the administrator who created the automation, and messages them in Teams when Teams bot notifications are on. If a notification can’t be delivered, the automation’s last-run line says so. See Group Automation Notifications.
  • Test tells you why a Teams message wasn’t delivered. On Communications, Test reports why a test message can’t be delivered, and tells you when the Bot App ID you entered isn’t the bot this App Store runs as. See Troubleshooting.
  • Communications explains how to install the Teams app. In tenants that Microsoft has moved to unified app management, app setup policies can no longer install apps. The Microsoft Teams Bot Notifications help text now covers installing the App Store for Intune app from Teams apps > Manage apps in the Microsoft Teams admin center as well as with a setup policy, and Learn more opens Microsoft’s page on installing apps for users. See Install the App for Your Users.
  • Resolved the Setup Wizard resetting settings it doesn’t show to empty or default values, including the catalog repository and token, the User Access Group, the release channel, notification choices, and branding. The wizard now saves only the values you change, and stays on a step if the save fails.
  • Fixed the Setup Wizard asking for a license key when a license is already active.
  • Fixed the Getting Started page heading saying the Setup Wizard covers authorization, branding, the BI for Intune connection, and deployment defaults. The wizard covers the license, the Admin Group, email notifications, and the first app sync.
  • Fixed Store Administration > Permissions and the Setup Wizard showing an object ID instead of a name for an Admin Group you chose when you deployed App Store.
  • Resolved the User Access Group locking out Admin Group members and the initial administrator who weren’t in it, including from the Permissions page where you change the group. Administrators now always have access.
  • Fixed the Admin Group help text saying an empty Admin Group allows every user. With no Admin Group, only the initial administrator can administer App Store.
  • Resolved sign-in on a managed device waiting about 20 seconds before redirecting.
  • Fixed the Setup Wizard, the License page, and the End User License Agreement showing the old product name, App Request Portal.
  • Resolved App settings removing the deployment group and Intune assignment it had just created when you made an app visible with Auto-create group, leaving the app with nothing to deliver and the group in Microsoft Entra ID. This affected Previews 10 to 15.
  • Fixed an app’s detail page saying “Auto-created on first request” for its group. The group is created when you make the app visible.
  • Resolved Auto-create group in App settings removing the Intune assignment of an app that’s already visible, without creating a group. App Store now creates the group when you save and moves the assignment to it. If it can’t, nothing changes and the message says why.
  • Resolved App Store assigning an app to a group that had been deleted in Microsoft Entra ID, which left the app showing as visible but reaching no one. App Store now checks the group when you make an app visible or change its group, and asks you to choose another group or Auto-create group.
  • Fixed the Review + Save step in App settings leaving out changes made on the Approval step. The step now shows whether approval and acknowledgment are required, and who approves, each with its previous value.
  • Fixed the publish wizard’s Package step describing whichever installer came first in the manifest when a package offers both a per-user and a machine-wide installer. It now describes the installer that packaging uses.
  • Resolved packaging falling back to a generic /S /silent for EXE installers whose WinGet manifest named the installer type but no switches. Packaging now uses the switches the publish wizard shows for that installer type, so an Inno Setup app such as WinMerge gets the switches that suppress its message boxes and restart.
  • Resolved packaging using a custom switch from a WinGet manifest, such as a license acceptance, as the installer’s only switch. The custom switch is now added to the installer’s silent switches.
  • Resolved Sync catalog now on the System page refreshing from the previously saved repository when you had changed the repository URL or token without saving. The button now reads Save and sync catalog now when there’s an unsaved change, and refreshes only after the save succeeds.
  • Resolved Delete from Intune removing an app’s groups, update apps, requests, and App Store record when Intune refused to delete the app, so the next sync imported it again with all of that gone. App Store now deletes the Intune app first and, if Intune refuses, changes nothing so you can try again.
  • Resolved Teams notifications not being delivered since version 1.33.0, although the welcome message still arrived. Notifications and Test messages are delivered again.
  • Fixed the Teams bot sending its welcome message twice when someone installs the App Store for Intune app.
  • Resolved the Group Automation Notifications options on Communications only writing to the log instead of sending notifications.
  • Resolved pages showing request, approval, and other times in UTC as if they were your local time. Every page now shows times in your own time zone.
  • Fixed times in notification emails and Teams cards showing no time zone, so a UTC time read like your local time. They now end in UTC.
  • Resolved app suggestion emails including what a user typed as HTML, which let the user add links and markup to an email sent from your notification mailbox. Everything the user types is now shown as text, and the download address is a link only when it’s an HTTP or HTTPS address.
  • Fixed users who suggest an app being told the administrators were notified when email is turned off. They now see that the suggestion couldn’t be sent.
  • Resolved app suggestions not reaching the initial administrator when there’s no Admin Group.
  • Fixed approval reminders and escalations counting an attempt when no email was delivered.
  • Fixed the request-submitted email saying “pending approval” for apps that need no approval. The email now says “approved automatically” for those apps.
  • Resolved a reassigned approval stage not notifying its new approver.
  • Resolved WinGet update emails going only to the sending mailbox instead of to the App Store administrators.
  • Resolved Store Administration > Storefront showing “Loading…” until you opened another settings page. The page now loads on its own, explains an empty featured-app list, and if its settings can’t be read, says why and offers Try again.
  • Resolved the Select Device list preselecting one of several devices that run the browser’s operating system, so Submit Request could install the app on the wrong device. The list now preselects a device only when you have one device, or only one of your devices runs the browser’s operating system, and otherwise asks you to choose.
  • Fixed My Devices blaming a device setting for a device that can’t access company resources and hasn’t checked in with Intune for a week or more. The message now says the device hasn’t checked in with Intune.
  • Fixed Terms of Service written as plain text losing their line breaks.
  • Resolved five high-severity security advisories in two .NET libraries by updating System.Security.Cryptography.Xml to 8.0.5 and System.Security.Cryptography.Pkcs to 8.0.2.
  • Preview only. Deploy it for evaluation with Release Channel set to Preview (Early Access). Keep production deployments on Latest.
