My Devices
If your administrator has turned it on, My Devices lists the devices enrolled in Intune where you are the main user. If you do not see the tab, your organization has not enabled it.
What you see
Section titled “What you see”Choose a device from the list to see its details.
Can access company resources is the important line. It is the same check your organization uses to decide whether a device is allowed at your email, files, and other company resources. Last checked tells you when the device last reported in.
Below that:
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Manufacturer | Who made the device |
| Operating system | The operating system and version currently reported |
| Ownership | Whether the device is corporate-owned or personally owned |
| Device category | The category your organization assigned, if any |
If a device cannot access company resources
Section titled “If a device cannot access company resources”Something on the device does not meet your organization’s requirements. Common causes are a missing operating system update, disk encryption being off, or a passcode that does not meet policy.
The page does not tell you which requirement failed. Your IT team can see that and tell you what to change. Once you have fixed it, use Check in now so the result shows up sooner.
Check in now
Section titled “Check in now”If your administrator has enabled it, a Check in now button asks the device to contact Intune straight away instead of waiting for its next scheduled check, which normally happens every few hours.
A check-in does three things:
- collects any apps waiting to install on the device
- refreshes the policies your organization has assigned to it
- re-evaluates whether the device meets your organization’s requirements
Use it after you have changed something on the device, so the new state is picked up without waiting. It does the same thing as Sync in the Company Portal app.
You can check status on a device you are the main user of, and on a device you are signed in to right now. You cannot see or act on anyone else’s device.
If Check in now does not appear, your administrator has not enabled it. If it reports that the permission is missing, tell your IT team. If they have only just set this up, it can take up to a day to start working, and it will begin working on its own.
What this page does not do
Section titled “What this page does not do”My Devices is deliberately read-only apart from the check-in. It cannot rename a device, change its category, retire it, or wipe it. Use the Company Portal or contact your IT team for those.
